The play tells the story of Shen Wansan, the "richest man in the south of the Yangtze River" in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty, who, after being sent to the southwest, used the Dian-Qian ancient road to develop the caravan trade and set up a second venture to help revitalize the Pingyue government and build the city wall. The Shen Wansan in the play not only creates a business myth, but also explains the value of life in Germany. Later generations honored him as "God of Wealth".
